Are you a fan of science fiction? Do you value individual liberty? Are you passionate about the struggle for freedom and excited about the many possibilities that only a free society can provide? If so, then you might want to join the Libertarian Futurist Society's LiveJournal community.
You need not be a dues-paying member of the Libertarian Futurist Society (LFS) to join this community. If you are a libertarian, or just have libertarian leanings, and are a writer or fan of science fiction and fantasy, especially science fiction, we would love for you to join. As a member of the community you'll get access to the latest news on the LFS itself and libertarian speculative fiction. You'll also be able to discuss the classics, new releases, and Prometheus Award nominees and past winners with other fans and lovers of liberty.
What is the LFS, you ask? And the Prometheus Award? Well, the Libertarian Futurist Society was founded in 1982 to recognize and promote libertarian science fiction. Check out the Web site here. The LFS publishes a quarterly newsletter, Prometheus, of news and reviews.
Every year the LFS presents the Prometheus Award for the best libertarian novel. There is also a Hall of Fame Award and a Special Award for film and shorter works of fiction. Click here for a list of past winners.
Check out the LFS Bookstore on Amazon.com for Prometheus Editor's Picks, Prometheus Award Nominees and Winners, Hall of Fame Winners, Dystopian Movies.
The LFS is also an affiliate of Laissez Faire Books, which sells some fiction books with libertarian themes.
